Getting the Materials To Build Your Own Wooden Swing Set from a Plan

Lumber
Always buy ACQ treated lumber from reputable suppliers that is arsenic and chromium free  with a warranty on the preservatives used against wood decay,wood rot and insect damage. (Better still buy Cedar) You want your creation to last at least until your children outgrow playing in the backyard!

Fixings
Don’t be tempted to use nails or ferrous metals that will cause a hazard/injury while discoloring and then weakening your workmanship from corrosion when exposed to the elements. Fixing holes for lag bolts should be pre-drilled to avoid splitting the wood and fitted with washers to limit the compression effect. For tire and swing supports/shackles I recommend Iron Ductile Swing Hangers

Fittings
Stainless Steel or powder coated 7 gauge steel for ‘A’ Frame Brackets are recommend for the swing beam which will receive the most stress when the swings are in use.
